Yacht

Transportation symbols show our current sense of autonomy as we move forward. Dreaming of a yacht combines the idea of moving over water – or how we feel or respond emotionally– with the idea of wealth, riches or a sense of luxury. If we feel good on the yacht and the water is calm, we may be tapping our inner resources in a way that makes us feel good about ourselves. If something frightening is happening on the yacht – we may be pursuing riches or success at the expense of our more basic needs. If the water is choppy – we may have built of life of success that is not fulfilling us because we are no longer feeling our way through life. See also Water.

Yard

Since the house represents your 'inner architecture' and ideas related to what the individual rooms represent, the yard has more of an association with how you 'go out' to meet the world in social situations. The front yard represents how you interact in social situations and what you reveal to others and cultivate in terms of appearance. The backyard is more private and can represent aspects that you keep hidden or issues you may not be confronting. Something happening in the front yard can represent changes you are making through public interaction, while something happening in the backyard can represent aspects of a more personal nature. See Front and Back Yard under Houses and Buildings.

Yard Sale

To dream of going to a yard sale can be a way of realizing how old ideas are being 'recycled' so that you can continue growing. Instead of throwing old ideas away (as in dreams of garbage) you are finding new ways of using old skills. You still see value in an old approach - but you recognize how a new or more 'modern version' will take the place of the old.

Yarn

You can dream of yarn as a symbol of not being truthful as in 'spinning a yarn.' This can also be a play on the word 'yearn' when you are not expressing your true desires. A ball of yarn in a dream can represent wholeness and how aspects that appear to be opposites are actually connected. The ball of yarn ties it all together. To dream of knitting with yarn shows what you are making out of difficulty, and the powerful ways that experience is changing you.

You may feel that holding in your feelings is the right thing to do - but the dream is showing the difficulty you are facing in doing so. Sometimes the best medicine is to speak your mind and clear the air.

Yellow

Yellow can be a color that represents jealousy or being fearful. When it appears in a dream, explore whether you may have feelings of jealousy that you are not acknowledging surrounding the symbolism. Yellow can be a message to slow down (like the traffic light) because some type of change is in the works. It also serves as a 'highlight' color, asking you to really look twice at the message and specific symbolism of the dream. Chances are, your immediate response would be to dismiss it. See also Colors.
