Chart Angles

The chart angles are created like a cross that begins the 360 degree circle with the ascendant at 9 o’clock. The highest point in the chart is called the midheaven and is located at 12 o’clock. Any planets found in the high point of the chart will be most obvious in how others see you or detailing what is most important to you and the type of career you seek.
For example, Saturn near the midheaven is often reserved and describes a teacher of some sort. People with Saturn here often dress in black. With only Capricorn in this position we find an entrepreneur or successful business person. Those with Uranus in this position would be an iconoclast, bucking the status quo in every way and would desire to be self employed.
At the 3 o’clock position we find the Descendant or point most unlike who we are but demonstrating qualities we look for in a partner. This is why they say opposites attract or why we generally fall in love with those who possess qualities we wish we had.
Finally at the 6 o’clock position we find the Nadir, perhaps the most soulful position in the chart. This position not only begins the 4th house which describes our ‘home base’ or need for security and comfort, it also describes our innermost being. Any planets conjunct the Nadir will be prominent in giving definition to our life path. Venus in this position often connects us deeply to others and is found in the charts of psychics and healers. Pluto in this position can describe a psychologist, while Jupiter here often brings humor to the way the soul interacts with others.
Transits to the chart angles generally bring about major life events either in physical changes (ascendant) partners (descendant) moving house (nadir) or career changes (midheaven.)
